“The destination wedding of Owen and Hanna was a reunion of family and a union of marriage, officiated by a close family friend, Hal Porter. The celebration weekend took place in Northern Michigan, where both families had spent their holidays together throughout their lives. Although Owen and Hanna were introduced by their parents as toddlers, they only became serious after a reconnection in their 20’s. The ceremony was held on the lawn of The Old Art Building, located on the Leland river, just steps away from Fish Town and Lake Michigan. Under the shade of a beautiful pine, Owen and Hanna exchanged rings and vows, in the presence of their closest friends and family.Following the ceremony, the reception was held within the walls of the cultural center (The Old Art Building). The DIY, eco-friendly styling was nothing short of perfect to compliment the earthy, lighthearted couple. The quaint setting of the reception was full of love and laughter. The night’s entertainment was led by the amazing B-Side Growlers from Grand Rapids, Michigan. With a combination of unique instruments such as the banjo, fiddle, washboard and guitar, they kept the energy high. On occasion, Mr. Gibby, the groom’s father joined in on guitar. Guests took off their shoes, bare feet stomping the ground as the group shared in celebration. After the wedding weekend had come to a close, the cabins packed, the beach bonfires covered with sand, a farewell gift was given. Sweet treats of Salt Water Taffy (A Michigan tradition) were inside an eco friendly tote. On the tote, a quote: ‘Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.’ Marcel Proust”
